Our Thrifty & Crafty Wedding ~ Crafty Guestbook with Instax Polaroids

It was my Birthday one week before the wedding day and my friends surprised me with a brand new Instax Mini Polaroid camera. We had talked about borrowing one from a friend to have instant pictures for our guest book, but I guess they had other plans all along. The book was contributed by one of my bridesmaids and the craft supplies to decorate each guests page were all from my crafting stack. We had numerous pens in all sizes and colour, multiple stamps and stencils, a few colours of ink, some stickers and tons of masking tape. I also made a comic speech bubble with chalk foil on it, so the guests could write funny stuff for the pictures. And a couple of days before the wedding I made some photo props with cardboard and wooden skewers.

The guestbook table was always busy and our guests showed all kinds of creativity filling up the pages and taking pictures of themselves. Sadly a few people kept their polaroids instead of putting them into the guest book and some missed writing in it alltogether, but the ones who did were even more enjoyable and touching.

One of my best friends also made a Cupcake finger print guest poster, where guest could leave a sprinkle made by putting ink on their finger and pressing it on the cupcake's frosting!

I can only encourage everyone who enjoys crafting to have a little craft table like this where guests can show their creativity and leave a memory that lasts forever.

Picture My Day #pmdd18

It's my first time doing Picture My Day. The name says it all, so let's begin:

~ The Day started early in the morning as I had a plane to catch from Berlin to Munich for a Minication till Tuesday.
~ I got to show off my new Carry-On luggage taking the train into central Munich.

~ After dropping off my luggage at my dear friends house we headed straight out for some luxurious brunch at the Mariandl Cafe at the Beethovenplatz.
~ We shared a generous breakfast menu for two with some freshly squeezed orange juice and cought up on each others lives.

~ With a full belly I said farewell to my friend, as she had to go to work, and headed towards the huge fleamarket of Theresienwiese (you know, the one where the Oktoberfest takes place). The less popular and smaller Frühlingsfest (Spring festival) is accompanied by the biggest fleamarket in Europe and this was my fifth time in a row!
~ You can find so many bizarre things there and I was greeted by some enormous Asterix and Obelix only a couple of metres into the market.

~ One of my favorite fleamarket finds was this small Polly Pocket heart. Sadly it is missing its figurines, but that's ok. I still have a few of these from when I was a kid on my parents attic somewhere. They were one of my favorite toys! Probably because they were one of the few "girly" things I had that I didn't have to share with my brothers.
~ Oh, yes. Pollly Pocket and Barbie... I did actually own one of these mobile homes, but then I sold it.. for way too cheap!

~ We got really lucky with the weather and the view was fantastic! You can see the huge ferris wheel of the spring festival here and the beautiful St. Paul's church in the background.
~ Too bad this awesome Disney bag wasn't for sale. Loving the mashup with Ducktales and the Dalmatians and Dumbo...

~ The mandatory fleamarket mirror selfie ;)
~ After a a couple of hours of hanging out with some other friends from my time back at Sony Music I met up with the friend I was staying with again to to some shopping at Aldi's for the days to come. I just love Aldi Süd! They got the best selection of veggie "meat substitute". I don't eat those substitutes that often, so to find good ones for cheap is always awesome. And the meatballs I got were so tasty!

~ And here comes the highlight of the day: we got out of the store with a box full and heavy with the groceries we got and a dark-skinned man approached us whether he could help us bring the box to our car. We responded that we don't have a car, but that we don't have to walk very far. He then insists that he takes us to our place in his taxi for free! He was with his little son and did not take no for an answer. And since the box really was pretty heavy and he really insisted on taking us we gave in and got into the car and he took us home. It is really rare these days that you meet a genuinely nice person like that! Especially in a big city. We thanked him tons said goobye to him and his little boy and enjoyed a really nice dinner of pretzels and veggies with hummus and Obatzda ( a bavarian cheese dip).
~ The night ended with us finishing two bottles of white whine and smoking a couple of cigarettes ( only under the influence ;) and talking about our lives and boys and all the good stuff. (And maybe dancing to Technotronic...)

What a wonderful day! I really enjoyed documenting it all, so I can share it with you! I'll share the rest of the pictures of the trip in my mothly report. Thanks for stopping by <3

Picturesque Month ~ 03'15

~ March means Spring is coming which means everthing turn green again. Early in March we went on our first jog of the year around the closeby lake by the Berlin Tegel airport. I was lucky enough to get this beautiful shot of the lakeside afterwards.
~ We also got ourselves some Greens for inside our apartment. My mom just moved and wanted to get rid of some of her bigger plants, so we gladly adopted them. Now we have a palm tree in our bedroom and another plant (no clue what it is exactly) next to our tv in our living room.

I've been working on my YouTube Channel a little bit doing a couple of videos in german. I did a two part video for a 90s kids questionaire, it was a video tag by the lovely Claudi from Pixeltrash3000. And the I did a thrift haul after going to an awesome thrift store sale. I don't know if this video making is just a phase or if I actually want to make this a part of my blog. I really enjoyed the thrift haul and will probably do more of those in german, because I would love to show young people here that thrift shopping can be so much fun and that it is much better than buying "throw-away" clothes at Primark, H&M and so on.

My new department at work is awesome! And not just because I get free movie tickets for the movies where we are distributors of the soundtrack. But that's definitely awesome as well! I got to see two Disney movies this month: Into the Woods and Cinderella. Into the Woods was really weird, the best part about that movie was actually Chris "Captain Kirk" Pine singing about his problems with the Cinderella chick. The actual Cinderella movie was so much better and very cute. I really enjoyed Richard "Robb Stark" Madden as Prince Charming and coincidentally I found a Cinderella magic wand at the thrift store for just 50c.

~ Remember building pillow and blanket forts as a kid? Well, we decided on doing just that and enjoying a lazy afternoon watching tv and eating junk food. So much fun! You should try it!
~ Got a new helmet to avoid another head injury while biking. And I took it out the next day to go thrift shopping on my day off. Too bad it was storming and raining pretty badly.
~ I did some re-fashioning this month. This flowy cardigan used to be a big ass night/dressing gown and if I get some proper outfit picture soon I can show you how I did it.

~ In other crafting news I took off our winter fir tree garland from the door and made an embroidery
hoop with a silly bunny rabbit and some easter eggs.
~ I also did my first ever amiguri. Meet Paul the Piggy!
~ Sneak Peek at my next big crafty project and possibly my own workshop at dawanda! Love Linocut.

~ I saw Talisco @ Lido and it was awesome. Their album was definitely one of the top albums last year and they had so much fun on stage it was catching! 5/5 Bazooka Points!
~ Then there was a secret gig of Mumford & Sons @ Magnet Club. I've never seen them live before, so seeing them in a small club probably didn't impress me as much as others, but it was a great atmosphere even though they only played their new songs. 4/5 Bazooka Points because of the stupid pillar standing in the middle of the club and obstructing my view!
~ As a kid we went to see all kinds of shows at Friedrichstadtpalast, some of them on ice. My mom really likes them and so I accompanied her to this Holiday on Ice Anniversary show. Lets's just say, it's more impressive when you're a kid! 2/5 Bazooka Points for sparking some childhood memories.

Thrifting in Berlin ~ Humana Sale Turmstraße

I went thrift shopping again. At Humana again. This time at Turmstraße. And one day before the store closed up, so everything was super cheap!

I got the week off, so I decided to ride my bike to the thrift store to do some early spring shopping. Actually I didn't expect much as it was a month long sale leading up to the store closing down for business. But they were really well stocked still, for closing up the next day at least. The only thing they were missing was dresses and men's clothing. I do love me some thrifty dress shopping, but oh well. I had planned on looking for fabrics mostly, but then I just bought a bunch of clothes to actually wear.
They even bothered to colour coordinate!
These are the clothes I put back after trying them on.

And these are the clothes I got. If you are curious to know what I got in specific you can check out my first Youtube Thrift Haul here:

Happy thifting!
